Lilac wine

Or how to bottle the scent of spring. Enjoy it well chilled for aperitif or dessert…

For 1 liter

  • 1 bottle of white or rosé wine
  • 200ml (1 cup) of fruit alcohol
  • 250g (11/4 cup) of sugar
  • 5 beautiful clusters of lilac flowers

Gently rinse and dry the lilac, then separate the flowers from the stems. Place the flowers into a large glass jar, then add the wine (white or rosé, according to your taste), the alcohol and the sugar.

Close the jar and allow to macerate for about 10 days, shaking regularly.

Then strain and bottle the wine. Serve well chilled, and add in the glass a few fresh flowers, or some crystallized flowers (same recipe than crystallized violets).
